Respons-Able Student Online (RSO)

Online Student Curriculum for ages K-12

Helping students understand and implement principles of Digital Citizenship

Respons-Able Students Online (RSO) is a course that allows students to learn digital citizenship principles in interactive, self-paced content easily imported into a district’s learning management system. This course contains content adapted for online classes collected from thousands of hours of teaching Kindergarten through 12th-grade students in-person in a classroom. RSO was a finalist in Best Digital Safety Solution for the 2024 CODiE award.

What’s Included?

The topics and lessons are vetted and also align with ISTE Student Standards and other state standards. Packed full of videos and resources, students grades 4-9 will be taught all elements of digital citizenship and have their own self-reflection activities and goals set so they can take what they’ve learned and apply it to their lives.

There are two courses, with some overlapping content, for upper elementary age and middle school. Those grades are when students are getting their first phones, and online accounts and digital citizenship is a topic that should be reinforced.

Content Quality = A+

Content includes a wide range of digital citizenship and online safety, in age-appropriate discussions for elementary and secondary.

Scaleable & User-Friendly

Design for out of class use with teacher (including librarian)/parent feedback and monitoring provides a solution for teaching these standards while minimizing class time. This solution is more attractive, and probably more effective than previous solutions such as school assemblies. It also is more scalable.

Explore The Program Modules

Based on Digital Respons-Ability’s direct work with students, we have adapted our curriculum to be online. These self-paced modules are divided into two courses: Respons-Able Students 1 (grades 4-6) and Respons-Able Students 2 (grades 7-9). Each module is 1-2 hours long and includes interactive activities and an optional assessment with a certificate. The student modules include resources for teachers and parents to reinforce digital citizenship learning in the classroom or at home.
